I recently finished the fall workstudy program at the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, TN. The basic exchange is 4 weeks of work for 4 weeks of classes.
Here's the start of some little summaries of all the classes I took:
1) Cyanotypes on Fabric with Amie Adelman
View of part of the Arrowmont campus from (one of) the local chair lift attractions
Laying down a huge piece of cyanotype-coated fabric
My favorite process ended up being this -- folding the fabric up and pressing under a piece of glass. The effect has so much depth and texture!
This class was so fun! I had some cyanotype knowledge beforehand but had never learned the process of adding dye to cyanotypes.
Cyanotype - dye - embroidery
A really long sample
Being in the Smoky Mountains was possibly one of the best parts of Arrowmont. I love mountains!
