Grandmother's Flower Garden

Wow! I started this quilt March 20, 2017 and finished it December 26, 2017. That's 8 months! There was a hiatus of about 3 months when I was trying to decide how to finish it, but here it is.

Grandmother's Flower Garden is a traditional quilt pattern that is English paper pieced. Fabric is basted to paper hexagons, hexagons are sewn to hexagons to create the flower motif, flowers are sewn to flowers, and so on.

The final decision was to hand quilt, and to just quilt the "petals". I was less than excited to hand-quilt this whole thing but I decided it was important that the whole quilt be hand sewn. Why spend all that time on hand sewing the top and then throw it under a machine?
